Intel Alder Lake Benchmark Leak Reveals 4GHz Clock Speed

Although Intel has already previewed its Alder Lake processors – the architecture behind the company’s upcoming 12th generation silicon, which launches later this year – we learn more about the CPU through a number of recent leaks and unofficial ones Benchmarks. The latest leak suggests that Intel’s 16-core 32-thread processor could reach 4 GHz and that the processor supports DDR5-4800 memory.

The latest leak comes from Twitter user @momomo_us, who discovered the detailed list for Alder Lake in the SiSoftware database. The database found that Alder Lake has a base clock speed of 1.8 GHz, but the desktop processor can reach speeds of 4 GHz with Boost.

The benchmark listed this early sample from Alder Lake as “Good Performance,” indicating that it outperformed 79.43% of the other processors by ranking. This is still a pre-release chip so performance will likely keep changing until Intel completes the chip.

Additional specifications for this particular Alder Lake desktop configuration include 10 x 1.25 MB L2 cache and 30 MB L3 cache. It appears that Intel has increased the amount of L3 cache by a third, or 10MB, compared to the 10th Gen Core i9-10900K. Although it supports 32 threads, it appears that the SiSoftware database incorrectly listed Alder Lake with 32 threads.

When Intel previewed its upcoming processor at CES, the company announced that Alder Lake will use a heterogeneous mix of cores by combining high-performance and high-efficiency cores on a single processor. Alder Lake will be Intel’s first processor to be manufactured using the 10 nm SuperFin process. The launch is expected in 2021 with support for PCI Gen5 and DDR5 memory. The chip should also support the new Wi-Fi 6E standard.

Based on the SiSilicon listing, we can deduce that, according to Videocardz, the CPU will have 32 execution units or ESs and 256 shading units clocked at 1.5 GHz. The database also showed an Alder Lake-S processor with a mobile graphics controller, so it’s unclear what plans Intel has for graphics support with this chipset.

Memory bandwidth appears to have increased compared to previous leaks. In the list, the memory bandwidth is given as 34.21 GBit / s.

Intel announced that the new processor family will feature faster transistors and improved MIM capacitors. On the phone, Alder Lake will be the successor to the current 11th generation Tiger Lake processor.
