Hitman 3 Players Unable to Carry Progress Over on Launch Day
Hitman 3 is out today, but players are already struggling to carry over progress from previous games. IO Interactive’s data transfer website is currently unavailable and the studio says they are working on a fix.
The brand new stealth game allows players to transfer levels and save data from Hitman and Hitman 2. Developer IO Interactive set up a website to handle these requests, but it quickly declined after a traffic load.
We are working hard to get the IOI account back online to allow progress transfer.
We will tell you when it will be fully functional again. Please press F5 on Twitter instead of our website. We want it to work just like you do again. Many Thanks! pic.twitter.com/4St0a2hYtQ

The developer tweeted that a fix is currently being worked on. IO recommends that players follow through the studio’s Twitter account instead of trying to update the website, which only creates more traffic.
The problem is particularly problematic because Hitman 3 deals with progress transfers. A player’s Hitman 3 data will be deleted when data stored on it is transferred. That means fans are currently having to decide whether to wait for the site to be fixed before launching the game, or continue without their previous data.
The progression drag was largely a pain point around the otherwise acclaimed game. Prior to launch, IO announced that thanks to Hitman 3’s exclusivity on the Epic Games Store, PC gamers will no longer be able to transfer progress from Hitman 2 unless they have re-purchased the game. According to Epic, a fix is currently being made to allow players to carry over their progression into the Epic version of the game.
Hitman 3 is out today for PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X / S, and PC. Our review calls it a “swan song to a fun trilogy of games held up by their intricate locations and humorous gameplay”.
