Cyberpunk 2077 Owners Can’t Get Refunds on PlayStation

Cyberpunk 2077’s refund situation just got complicated as PlayStation owners report that Sony doesn’t offer refunds for the game. The news comes after CD Projekt Red told players that they can refund digital copies directly through Sony and Microsoft.

PlayStation users share screenshots of messages received from the Sony support team. These state that the game cannot be returned. In an email from Sony, it says: “CD Projekt Red is currently working on patches and updates to fix bugs and crashes and to improve the overall gaming experience of Cyberpunk 2077.”

Sony won’t refund my Cyberpunk 2077 order even after the game’s developer said that buyers who run into problems could receive refunds. The game literally crashes on my PS4 and is not playable. Sony’s answer? Wait for the updates.

Originally, the developer CD Projekt Red tweeted that gamers could opt for a refund for the game, which has big bugs on last-gen consoles. The company tweeted, “For copies purchased digitally, please use PSN’s or Xbox’s refund system.” Many have taken this to mean that the developer had an agreement with both companies to coordinate refunds, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

According to Kotaku, CD Projekt Red took a phone call yesterday to clarify the refund situation with investors. “Our approach here at Microsoft and Sony is no different from other titles that have been published on one of these storefronts. I want to be clear about this as there seems to be some misunderstanding, ”said Michał Nowakowski, Senior Vice President for Business Development.

The developer has set up an email hotline for customers who are having problems getting their refunds. According to some players, the developer is now recommending that players stop contacting Sony at all and ask them to wait for CD Projekt Red to come back to them.

Disappointed Sonystas, don’t give up. CD Projekt Red is expected to broker the Cyberpunk 2077 refund claim directly with Sony.
