Asus New Powerful Chromebook Come With Ryzen or Tiger Lake

Asus announced some powerful Chromebook offerings at the Consumer Electronics Show. The Chromebook CX9 uses the latest Tiger Lake CPU from Intel, while the Chromebook Flip CM5 2-in-1 features the new Ryzen 5 3500C processor from AMD.

Asus Chromebook CX9

The Chromebook CX9 is based on Intel’s 11th generation Tiger Lake CPUs with Intel Iris Xe graphics up to a Core i7 to offer professionals a powerful Chrome OS environment. A lightweight body and a 14-inch display with NanoEdge bezels also make for a very portable Chromebook. A glare-free full HD display makes the Chromebook CX9 more user-friendly in brightly lit areas. A Harman Kardon certified audio system and Wi-Fi 6 wireless connectivity round off efforts to create a powerful machine that can optimize productivity anywhere.

The Chromebook CX9’s magnesium-aluminum alloy case has been subjected to standard Asus tests to meet military MIL-STD-810H standards for durability. The laptop weighs just 2.2 pounds and is 0.63 inches thick while still having Thunderbolt 4, USB-A, and HDMI ports.

Finally, Asus provides protection for businesses by providing Titan C Security to protect passwords, encryption keys and other confidential information. The Chromebook CX9 includes a fingerprint sensor for password-free login and a webcam cover for more privacy.

The Chromebook CX9 will be available in the second quarter of 2021. Asus has not yet provided pricing information.

The Chromebook Flip CM5 is another member of the Asus line of AMD Ryzen laptops. In this case, the Chrome OS 2-in-1 uses the Ryzen 5 3500C processor with Radeon graphics to provide more than enough power for the lightweight operating system. Up to 16GB of RAM can be configured, which is a significant amount for Chrome OS, and up to 512GB of SSD storage is available. Wireless connectivity is enhanced by Wi-Fi 6, and a 57 watt hour battery promises to keep the Chromebook Flip CM5 running for up to 10 hours.

The design has also received some attention. There are orange WASD buttons to enhance the game. NVIDIA GeForce NW and Google Stadia support offers additional gaming options. A metallic lid in mineral gray ensures structural rigidity and aesthetic flair, while a structured palm material made of obsidian velvet ensures a pleasant working feeling. Harmon Kardon-certified speakers and a three-sided nanoedge display round off the announced specifications.
