Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Yuletide Event Starts Today

The holidays are coming with a free Christmas update to Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. The content drop brings seasonal activities and equipment into play as well as a settlement expansion.

The in-game Yule Festival starts on December 17th and runs through January 7th. The update is free, but players must ensure that they have completed either the Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire story arc. The update is part of Ubisoft’s plan to release seasonal content for the open world game every three months.

The update brings various festivities and a snowy visual update to the settlement of the game. Players can try new activities like archery and drunken fistfighting. The size of the settlement will be expanded as part of the update to accommodate future festivals that will be added to the game.

The update brings new seasonal loot into play, which is available through the Festival Shop. The novelties include a cozy fireplace, a Christmas beech and a set of complete armor and cosmetics from Mōdraniht.

Ubisoft is hosting a community photo contest starting today through January 1st. Players can send in seasonal photos from the event to win the Art of Assassin’s Creed Valhalla book and € 50 worth of Helix credits.

In addition to outlining the new event, Ubisoft also previewed the next major piece of content coming into play in early 2021. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla will get a new game mode called River Raid. While exact details on how it works are not yet known, Ubisoft says the mode will have three different maps, and the mode will reward players with new gear, silver, books of knowledge, and more.
